Earth Changes Bulletin Update As Of September 11, 2002
You have heard of the Weather Report? Here exclusively is this week’s "Earth Report" - a short review of the "big picture" about how the dynamic changes in the Sun and the Earth are effecting our lives more and more intensely, with the latest prognostications and predictions for weathermen, farmers, investors, businessmen, and everyman Blowing In The Wind: All seas are rising rapidly as the Mercury/Venus stormfront approaches…..in Space, in the oceans, and in human affairs. Like this season’s first Hurricane, which is scheduled to batter Canada, everything this month and next will be UNUSUAL and chaotic. ________________________________________________________________________ Program Thesis: What are we trying to do with the Earth Changes Bulletin? Most news media do not handle technical and scientific subjects like geology and earth sciences very well. They don't understand the causes and effects of activities in the Sun and Earth. Accordingly, they often do not understand if, when, how, why to report earthquakes, volcanic activity, global warming effects The treatment often sounds absent-minded, poorly qualified, and frequently contains various technical errors. Seldom is the treatment entertaining and genuinely educational. Based on new scientific principles which have emerged during the past thirty years, many of the dynamic activities of the Sun and Earth can be linked together to see how a range of effects are linked together. This makes it possible to paint "the big picture" into a perspective which explains many diverse events and processes, especially climate and weather patterns such as global warming and El Nino. From the "big picture", long range predictions can be made for weeks and even months ahead. The result is sophisticated cutting-edge
information which is objective, balanced, astute, relevant, and can be easily seen and
appreciated by lay audiences The perspective is generally global, seldom parochial. POLAR MOTION What is happening to the motion of the Earth. As before, steady as she goes even as the waves in the solar sea and the reactions in Earth’s atmosphere are rising higher and higher to push all records into oblivion. SUNSPOTS & SOLAR STORMS The events in the solar atmosphere which impact weather and climate patterns, the magnetic field and auroras, including forecasts for the week, month, and year ahead. High at 230 today and this is the lull before the next huge wave front in the number of sunspots. This will be the fourth huge oscillation since July and it is going to be a doozy. The index of solar flux is rising steeply and the sunspot count should follow suit during the next several days. We may easily see up to 400 sunspots as the Mercury/Venus alignment forms up for late September. The last three steep waves and the current (lull?) can be see at:
http://www.michaelmandeville.com/earthmonitor/topten_monitor.htm The solar wind is still blowing with great attitude at nearly 490 km/second straight out of a pair (?) of coronal holes in the Sun’s atmosphere. This has driven several huge fluctuations in the Fluxgate Magnetometer at the U. of Alaska during the past two weeks (see the above webpage). With this continued high level of ionic influx into the Earth’s atmosphere, bright auroras are beginning to become commonplace in the high latitudes and even the mid latitudes are seeing them occasionally. MANY MORE AURORAS ARE COMING IN GREAT QUANTITY DURING SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER. NASA has spotted another dangerous sunspot group and is expecting major CME’s (titanic explosions) and flares. X class flares are a strong possibility at any time. GLOBAL DROUGHT AND FLOOD WATCH Stories and assessments about drought and flood conditions around the world; global information which provides the ability to assess the impacts to agriculture and the natural environment. All conditions worsen week by week even as temporary relief has hit portions of the Western U.S. As discussed previously, Earth’s atmosphere appears to take about two to three weeks to fully express the impacts of a sudden new input of energy from the Sun. The third wave of sunspot numbers, which peaked in late August, is just now beginning to produce another round of increased rains and storms in the Northern tier of Canada, Europe, and China. Ireland was heavily battered at the beginning of the week with rain and floods and by midweek France was being soaked. Meanwhile, the season’s first Atlantic Hurricane is being driven by the atmosphere’s high level of energization all the way up to Nova Scotia where it is expected to collide with the continent. Extreme storms and rainfall should continue to escalate during the next two weeks to produce an exceptionally wet fall in Northern Eurasia. All of this of course, as discussed previously, is created by the high levels of ionic energy in the Earth’s atmosphere which robs the wet moist ocean air from many of the monsoon belts in the middle latitudes. The energy sends most of the equatorial ocean air up much higher in elevation and latitude, leaving drought in the monsoon belts while creating exceptional floods in the Northern latitudes. Fortunately, the chaos in the Earth’s atmosphere is now working temporarily to the benefit of the drought areas in the Southwest. THE DIRE ASSESSMENT ABOUT THE ENDING OF THE DROUGHT IN THE AMERICAN SOUTHWEST MADE IN LAST WEEK’S UPDATE WAS WRONG AND HOPEFULLY IT WILL CONTINUE TO BE WRONG. The jet stream has commenced an extreme bend in the North Pacific which is pushing Northern air masses down the Sierra Nevada’s and the Western Plateau. This has collided with Pacific wet air which has been forced to dump massive quantities of water over the American Southwest, Colorado, and Utah. For the first time in 14 months, Black Canyon City received two major rainfalls over the past four days as has much of Arizona. As predicted at the beginning of the monsoon period in early June, there has been no monsoon in Arizona up to this time. Since the season ends on September 15th, this monsoon rain is two months late but thank heaven. Unfortunately for large numbers of trees, bushes, and critters, the rain comes too late. The shrinkage of the eco-system will be noticeable for many years. Due to the exceptional influx of solar activity which the inner planets "lens" directly into the earth during the close fly-by’s of Mercury and Venus, it is likely that Arizona and many areas throughout Western U.S. will RETURN to drought conditions through to the end of this year. Most likely this condition will persist until well into next year, though chaotic responses in the world’s atmosphere may ameliorate this condition has it has done so during the past seven days. EL NINO WATCH: A minor build up of surface temperature along the equator continues but it is not even remotely comparable to the last two El Nino patterns. The greatest "driver" of our weather continues to be the high sunspot counts, not any El Nino syndrome. EARTHQUAKES Around the world to see the current and potential patterns of seismic activity, with coverage of the windows of danger. UPHEAVAL IN THE ARCTIC During the last 72 hours, seven shallow quakes ranging in size from 4.6 to 5.6 in magnitude betrayed the spreading activity of the Great Rift which runs over the "top" of the world through the Arctic Sea. Here is data from the largest of them (most of them were in the same location). Location 83.10N 6.08W Depth 10.0 kilometers Magnitude 5.6 Region NORTH OF SVALBARD Reference 145 miles (230 km) NE of Nord, Greenland 470 miles (755 km) ENE of Alert, Nunavut, Canada 1000 miles (1605 km) NNW of Tromso, Norway These quakes were preceded by a sprinkling of quakes in Central Asia above 3.0 mag. During the last seven days, an eye-popping 7.6 quake struck offshore of the North Coast of Papua New Guinea (where the Australian Tectonic Plate rubs against other tectonic plate fragments). Elsewhere during the same time period the frequency of quakes above 3.0 in mag was not exceptional and quakes were widely distributed though all of the usual zones around the Pacific, in California, and across the southern Eurasian belt from the Himalayas through the Mediterranean. A relatively large number of quakes last week struck the Aegean sea to create the most distinctive pattern other than the quakes in the Arctic. For quakes of all sizes on the U.S. West Coast, the USGS charts show 339 quakes for the last week for California/Nevada and 25 for the last two weeks for the entire Pacific Northwest. Activity can thus be classed as muted and as suggested last week, this New Moon Syzygy in California was not memorable.
VOLCANOES Around the world with the most interesting and relevant volcano stories; briefs on the likely eruptions as well as coverage of on-going activity. The Southwest Volcano Centre reports 35 volcanoes on the alert status list, 6 volcanoes on the restless list, and 18 on the active eruption list. All activity appears to have become more muted after having peaked in intensity during two weeks ago. Hood is still fast asleep and El Popo remains quite sleepy, though it has started snoring this week. El Popo continues at a low level of 10 events on Tuesday, just up a little from last week’s three events on Tuesday. As reported by Cenapred for SEPTEMBER 11 (16:00 GMT): "In the last 24 hours, the activity of the Popocatépetl volcano showed a slight increase in its activity levels in comparison with those reported yesterday. There were 10 small to moderate exhalations accompanied by steam and gas. At 12:27 h (local) it was detected a volcanotectonic earthquake with magnitude of 2.6 located at 2.9 km depth and 7 km to the SE. In addition, there were some episodes of low amplitude harmonic tremor for about 4 hr. At the moment of this report we can not see the volcano due to the clouds". (For new readers, Hood and El Popo are on our vigilant watch because of certain prophecies which have been made about them). AG INDUSTRY WATCH Because of the high load of stress which the current peak in the sunspots have placed on the Ag industry, we alert on the changing scene in agriculture and how these are likely to effect the broader economy. As reported last week, information about severe crop failures worldwide is mounting. Subscribers are sending us reports from various places around the world on what is being reported on the ag situation. Please continue to post these during September and October so that we can generate a large research file of data about the global food situation. From these posts we will gain a perspective during the late fall for making judgements about the problem of shortages and economic disruption. GEO-POLITICAL WATCH How the sunspots are likely to most effect human affairs during the weeks and months ahead? If we are lucky, the elevated levels of ionic energy which will soon envelop us will keep us awash in a oozy woozy haze of confusion which prevents any negative reactions. Let us hope this Fall is a little too much of everything falling apart with enough random chaos to keep us collectively distracted from bombing defenseless poor people back into the stone age. Meanwhile, over-reactions are still a major threat. As Studs Terkel, America’s well regarded "blue-collar" writer, reputedly observed last week, the American Mass Media seems to be "goose-stepping" us to war with Iraq. Does that fit? A large number of older Americans with historical perspectives which precede World War II are increasingly disturbed by the high LOAD of propagandistic manipulation which seems to be under way about Iraq. In an echo to the famous question poised a generation ago by Walter Mondale, most of the world is asking in regard to the danger poised by Iraq, "where’s the beef?"
Nobody can figure it out except Condaleeza Rice. For the real scene, perhaps one should tune into the British press. The London Observer recently published an article about a massive U.S. military buildup which is underway in the Middle East but which is still largely un-reported on American TV. REPEAT FROM LAST WEEK: September’s and October’s huge influx of ionic energization will once again increase emotional over-reactions and intellectual incoherence, esp. on the subject of violence, war, invasions, guilt, blame, revenge, and so on. JUST SAY NO. DARE TO JUST SAY NO TO ALL EMOTIONAL APPEALS, ESPECIALLY TO FEAR OR DESIRE FOR REVENGE. SAY NO TO ALL OF THE DRUM BEATS OF WAR. Demand that all things be logical and consistent. Clarity is sanity. Is there a real threat at the moment? If not, say no.
