With the Full Moon tomorrow in this moment of high solar ionic influx, expect anything. We are all twisting in the wind as we hang from the scaffold of the moment, twisting in every direction to see many rude beasts conniving in a multitude of ways. Yet the one way we fail to see is the way from out of this place…is there one?

With solar destiny continuing to inflame the minds and emotions of humans into extreme
patterns of reaction, the world seems ever more devoid of common sense and elementary legitimacy. At the moment, the imbroglio surrounding Senator Lott seems like nearly a perfect symbol for such as the Americans, a symbol of the entire nation, a symbol of those who hold great power and wealth but in their narrow concerns, unsavory past, and petty judgements are far too empty of legitimacy and sound purpose to govern the world they presume as their own. Yet even so, the recent mass media exposure of Dr Strangelove Kissinger as an international fugitive was a real good sign in a real healthy direction.

Program Thesis: What are we trying to do with the Earth Changes Bulletin?

Most news media do not handle technical and scientific subjects like geology and earth sciences very well. They don't understand the causes and effects of activities in the Sun and Earth. Accordingly, they often do not understand if, when, how, why to report earthquakes, volcanic activity, global warming effects The treatment often sounds absent-minded, poorly qualified, and frequently contains various technical errors. Seldom is the treatment entertaining and genuinely educational.

Based on new scientific principles which have emerged during the past thirty years, many of the dynamic activities of the Sun and Earth can be linked together to see how a range of effects are linked together. This makes it possible to paint "the big picture" into a perspective which explains many diverse events and processes, especially climate and weather patterns such as global warming and El Nino. From the "big picture", long range predictions can be made for weeks and even months ahead.

The result is sophisticated cutting-edge information which is objective, balanced, astute, relevant, and can be easily seen and appreciated by lay audiences. The perspective is generally global, seldom parochial.

POLAR MOTION
What is happening to the motion of the Earth.

AS REPORTED DURING PREVIOUS WEEKS: Steady as she goes. As reported for the past few months, the current track of Chandler’s Wobble (the observed locations of the spin axis at the North Pole) continues to show an acceleration in the shifting of the average location of the spin axis. The recent acceleration may be in the approximate range of 6.5%. FOR A DESCRIPTION OF THIS DISPLACEMENT, SEE THE EARTH CHANGES BULLETIN OF NOVEMBER 13, 2002.

NEW THIS WEEK: I believe that when final calculations are done for this 6.5 year cycle of chandler’s wobble, the rate of acceleration will firm up higher, perhaps in the range of double the rate quoted above. Final calculation may require waiting for another 11 months.

SUNSPOTS
The events in the solar atmosphere which impact weather and climate patterns, the magnetic field and auroras, including forecasts for the week, month, and year ahead.

AS REPORTED LAST WEEK, THE SOLAR NEWS IS DEFINITELY NOT, NOT, NOT GOOD

Sunspot count on Tuesday was 252 being pushed higher by a rapidly climbing Solar Index Flux, which is now reported at about 212. The Sunspot count usually “overshoots” the high point of the Solar Flux by about 20 to 50 points and since the Solar Flux appears to be climbing still, the sunspot count is likely to continue climbing for at least another day or so.

From the current numbers which have been climbing since last week, it is apparent that we could very well be a long way from the end of the peak period (sun spot counts above 100 on average for any given month) of Solar Cycle 23.

I was expecting these numbers in November but it took Saturn to bring them out. I have mostly ignored the outer planets, mainly because the don’t fit well on the Home Planet heliotropic (sun in the center) projections. I preferred to display the actual relative orbital distances of just the inner planets. But it is very obvious from this current alignment with Saturn that the Earth can play a significant attractor role (for solar storms, sunspots, solar wind, etc) quite independent of Mercury or Venus when an outer planet lines up behind the Earth. Accordingly for the next year, we will use all of the planetary alignments and watch the sunspot numbers raise and fall with them.

This snapshot of the solar system forces all of the planets into equal orbital distances from each other so that they will all fit in the projection in a neat and tidy way.

AS REPORTED YESTERDAY: The current performance of the solar sunspot activity is providing an awful lot of data to firm up the vortex theory of sunspot activity. Wait until you see what is coming our way in January with a spiraling alignment with Merc|Earth|Jupiter, which will last basically all month. I doubt very much that the peak of Solar Cycle 23 is going away anytime soon. Sunspots will be HIGH, the weather AWESOME, and the humans, VERY confused with all kinds of mixed reactions on all fronts. It is going to be a Wintry January to remember!!!! I promise.

The current and likely future high level of activity through January will provide a strong stable platform of energy to feed more major storms on the Sun which will feed ions into the Earth’s atmosphere to feed extreme weather patterns.

Despite this rising tide of solar flux and sunspots NASA. It is a great time to be sailing in this quadrant of the solar system, at least today. At the moment the Fluxgate Monitor at the U of Alaska shows a virtual flatline (no magnetic disturbances in the Earth’s Atmosphere) and no coronal holes (holes in the Sun’s atmosphere) of significance are visible. Today’s Solar Wind Speed is a relatively modest 360.7 km/s yet with a high density of 10.7 protons/cm. Don’t bother looking for auroras tonight but if you have a ionic propulsion craft parked in orbit, you might want to take a spin out towards the Moon and leave behind the gales in the atmosphere.

AS REPORTED LAST WEEK: it is apparent that the robust energy output of the Sun in Solar Cycle 23 is not falling off as hoped for during the past six months. It should now be apparent that the high in this Solar Sunspot Cycle may not be any shorter in length than previous cycles. It has blown off all predictions, even astrophysicist’s with fancy supercomputers and highly advanced statistical profiling. So the only real prediction which can be made is that nobody will call this one except by blind luck. EXPECT ANYTHING except a quick reprieve. THIS IS VERY BAD NEWS TO THE AMERICAN SOUTHWEST AND OTHER DROUGHT PRONE AREAS.

GLOBAL DROUGHT AND FLOOD WATCH

MAN OH MAN DID WE CALL THIS ONE AS PREDICTED LAST WEEK: The predicted great gusto in the onset of Winter has certainly been on the mark.

ALSO AS PREDICTED LAST WEEK: Don’t expect any let up and in fact, the coming alignment of Mercury with Earth on January 11, 2003 will bring a huge increase in Sunspots, Flares, Ionic Storms, and bad storms on Earth with nasty attitudes through a great portion of January, from about the 5th through to the 20th.

ALSO AS PREDICTED LAST WEEK: The current pattern of recurring huge storm fronts and extensive precipitation is likely to continue well into February and then begin to dissipate. There are several major inner planet alignments to watch during the next few months and I will post these in a special annual report. Anything could happen to the weather this Winter but at the current time the odds seemed stacked to chaos and many extremes which will emerge in the weather suddenly after a major solar flare or appearance of a new coronal hole. Since we cannot make any guesses as to the duration of Solar Cycle 23, we cannot look for any abatement at the moment.

MOST FORTUNATELY, great portions of the American Southwest got RAIN, yes, it actually rained. (All you desert rats, look it up in your dictionary if you don’t remember the word). We are getting some El Nino syndrome with the jet stream brought down to extremely low latitudes, crossing Southern California and across the Mojave both into the Sonoran Desert and up on top of the Mogolllon Rim. And here in Black Canyon City it is actually cold, and for the first time in a year, I did not meditate outdoors this past three days.

EL NINO WATCH: The El Nino syndrome along the equator continues to appear to be in decline. As reported last week: the upsurge in warm water (above average in the range of 8 degrees F.) long a very wide expanse of the Equator in the Pacific appears to have ended in early November and definitely appears to be less now, on the way down. It is likely the ocean temperature will continue to decline through the remainder of December and January. If so, the El Nino Weather Syndrome may short out rapidly. In any event, it is highly likely to be upstaged by the sunspot induced weather chaos in January.

EARTHQUAKES
Around the world to see the current and potential patterns of seismic activity, with coverage of the windows of danger.

We are already in the Full Moon Syzygy

During the past week overall seismic activity about 3.0 in magnitude was about normal in frequency and magnitude, though December 12 and 13 were higher than normal. The frequency of quakes fell off in Alaska as the week progressed, nothing was heard of the Coos Bay coastal waters which we have been tracking, but a lot of activity is still being recorded without much abatement in Japanese waters and activity has picked up in the western portion of the South Pacific.

Activity was mostly random throughout the normal places, but another pattern or two may be emerging. A few quakes have struck in the center of the Asia the past few days, about 1000 miles due West of Beijing. I suspect that this is related to upthrust activity of the Eurasian Plate.

Yesterday and today a 6.2 quake struck in the South Sandwich Islands, which are on the margin of the Great Antarctica Tectonic Plate. When the Earth is more active than normal in “jiggling” is skin to reshape itself in accordance with EMS (Earth Moon Sun) system vortex vectors (vectors of compression or pulling arising from gravity, electromagnetic activity, centrifugal motion, or orbital motion) one would expect some flattening at the poles, which would be signaled by increased seismic activity at the margin of the Antarctica Plate. If the world were symmetrical in every way, one would see this as well in the Arctic, but the story in the far North is too geologically complex to see this.

As argued in the vortex papers and in the third book of the trilogy of the Return of the Phoenix, one should expect to see this activity especially during the time when the Sun’s gravity is tugging most strongly on the Southern Hemisphere near Perihelion (closest approach of the Earth to the Sun right around January 6 each year). It would seem then that we are on schedule.

As well there was a 4.2 quake in the Mid Atlantic Rise off the Northern coast of South America.

Activity is still quite slow for this Full Moon and who can say what is to happen this coming few days? Jim Berkland, the most accurate prognosticator, has nothing to say about this Full Moon.

The USGS chart (such charts show all quakes 1.0 and above) for Long Valley Cauldera (Area) shows a decrease to 20 something small quakes for the past week, typically in the range of 1.0 in magnitude, while the USGS Chart of Yellowstone Cauldera Area shows a huge decrease to 28 small quakes during the last week. This level of activity would seem to indicate that volcanic activity is now once again waning

The USGS chart for California/Nevada shows 229 quakes for the past seven days, down from last week and the USGS Chart for the Pacific Northwest reveals a decline of 10 with 34 micro quakes (two week sum) widely scattered through the Cascades and Eastern Washington (same as last week). There was one quake related to Mt. Hood.

VOLCANOES
Around the world with the most interesting and relevant volcano stories; briefs on the likely eruptions as well as coverage of on-going activity.

Hood remains quiescent but one quake in its roots yesterday shows that it is still mulling over a potential eruption. El Popo gave us an 17 puff day today, up substantially from last week. Centrapred reports for December 17 (16:00 GMT) that “In the last 24 hours the activity of Popocatépelt volcano remained in steady levels. There were 17 low intensity exhalations accompannied by steam and gas. Also the were recorded two volcanotectonic microearthquakes of magnitude 2.3 and 2.5, with a depth of 6.9 km and 3.5 km respectively, both located 7 km to the Southeast of the crater. In addition there were some episodes of low amplitude harmonic tremor for about 1 hour.”

El Popo suggests an upward trend in worldwide volcanic activity while the downsurge in seismic activity in the Yellowstone and Long Valley Caulderas suggest a decrease in volcanic activity. We have great auguries. With these, the Wizard of Oz will no doubt go a long way…….maybe back to Kansas with Dorothy.

The Southwest Volcano Centre reports 47 volcanoes on the alert status list (no change from last week), 6 volcanoes on the restless list (same as last week), and 31 on the active eruption list (up two from last week). Popo rules again. And Etna remains the most colorful and vociferous of the active eruptions.

AG INDUSTRY WATCH
Because of the high load of stress which the current peak in the sunspots have placed on the Ag industry, we alert on the changing scene in agriculture and how these are likely to effect the broader economy.

AS REPORTED LAST WEEK: Concerning the crop failures and coming food shortages, I have not been able to find time to wade through the inventory of reports I have. Maybe I will get to them in January. Regardless, you can expect that shortages will appear as the inventories disappear this winter. Australia is obviously in bad straits from a brutal summer (right now) and it is likely that their agriculture will show massive failure for the second year in a row.

ALSO AS REPORTED LAST WEEK: Since there is a good possibility that the Solar Cycle 23 Peak will not decline until the Summer of 2003 (in the Northern Hemisphere), it is even time to begin to think about another round of ag failures this coming year in the Northern Hemisphere. If this happens, many dire conditions could easily become horrible in some areas of the world.

PROPHECY WATCH:

Some internet sources are falling into the orbit of the Planet X, Zeta Talk, and other prophecies which are predicting a major Earth Change in the form of all tectonic upheavals and acute crisis for humanity in March through May 2003. It turns out that this line of thinking probably as its ancestor a Roman Catholic mystic (now dead), which they share with the Heaven’s Gate cult, whose predictions and cosmological explanations presage what is current being spread through many sources on the internet.

UNEQUIVOCAL PREDICTION: No major tectonic catastrophes which destroy our economy or kill people by the millions will occur during 2003. Those who are wrong about this, as well as their followers, should finally fold up their tents and read my work at the end of 2003 to gain a better grasp of the cosmic realities and see how it is that I can be so certain on these kinds of points.

AS PREDICTED: The American right wing is now inventing new rationales for PRESUMING that the U.N. cannot do the job, or will do it wrong, or, that no inspections can possibly work. Nobody in Washington DC in the administration appears to want to calmly explain or prove anything. All they appear to be doing, through people like Rumsfield, Rice, and many many others, is feeding the public the notion that WE, the Grave and Great Leaders of the entire Free World, can PRESUME whatever we want, because, WE are the King of the Hill.

THE LATEST PLOY OF AMERICA’S OWN HOME GROWN NAZI SHOCK TROOPS FOR THE RIGHT WINGNUTS:

Confidence in the legitimacy and reasonable accuracy of representations by leaders of the U.S. government are sinking rapidly to the bottom of the toilet bowl. The thirty years of effort to restore international confidence and respect since the debacle of Vietnam, which succeeded reasonably well since Reagan’s second term, and which received a major boost with the policy line for fighting the Al Qaeda War of Terror, is being squandered in the Iraqi Mis-adventure by churlish fools of the right who understand neither history nor the meaning of respect for the opinion of humankind.

AS PREVIOUSLY PREDICTED: Unfortunately it does not seem that the inflammation of human emotions which the sunspot activity has caused this past 39 months is going away any time soon. The damage will continue to unfold. The existing confusion, distortion of judgements, and blind over- reactions will continue to reign for yet another season, perhaps for another year.

AS PREVIOUSLY STATED: In the short term of the next two or three years, the polarizations and strategies which have been let lose in the world will continue to exacerbate our conditions and make some of them actually yet still worse. Indeed, some Euro sources even hint darkly of suitcase atomic bombs. And all of this of course will collide with the terrible environmental and economic damage which Solar Cycle 23 has created and is still creating. The reckoning for this is yet to come.

Some write to me, asking me to drop the geo-political assessments, which they regard as leftist. Others write to me, such as a dear friend of some 30 years, an informed witness of the Vietnam war era, who tells me political conditions in this country appear to him to be the worst he has seen. I concur. They are about as bad as they were in about 1963 when the civil rights demonstations could be bashed at will by any willing sheriff with a lieing mouth and the John Birch Society was trumping up communists under ever rock while a rogue right wing faction in the CIA Cover Corporations were planning the inside coup assasination of JFK. The decisions made in 2003 will be fundamentally critical to the health of the U.S. for decades to come.

The issue is the same issue as faced the Roman Republic before it went imperial, and the cusp of this moment 2002 is as crucial as those years just prior to the assassination of Julius Caesar. Before the Caesar’s, the great multitude of people in the Mediterranean Basin owned their own farms and practiced free trade. After four hundred years of Caesars, everyone in the Basin was a soldier or a serf who owned nothing. To this day, we still live in the very long shadow of the Roman Imperialists .

Those who seek the security of wealth over the security of persons are fully capable of turning the entire planet into a vast feudal estate. The world debate which is rapidly being enjoined is whether the U.S. government will be “upgraded’ by international elites of private wealth into the principal police power of an imperial system, or whether the people of North America will rescue their own instruments of governance, find the ways to eclipse the power of money and privilege in their society like most of the rest of the industrialized world has done, and bind themselves into the rule of law within the United Nations, also like most of the rest of humanity has done.

If you gain the ability to depose a foreign leader at will, without the decision of the U.N., you have given the imperial faction as major boost. All of us ARE in fact called to decide the issue, to turn towards or away from an Imperial World Order. In the final analysis, it may be only by the grace of former imperial powers, whom have turned away from it, which may prevent the current ruling class in America from traveling the Roman Road To Fascism Uber Alles. At the moment, with the complete eclipse of the Democrats and most organized political opposition to the right wing juggernaut, only France, Russia, and Germany, and China (China has NEVER been an imperial power for about the past two hundred years) can stem the tide with actual votes at the U.N. I hope they do and I believe that they will. In the U.S., continually unabated vociferous opposition in all forms to the huge quantities of drum-beating mind numbing mass media propaganda of the D.C.- New York crowds is absolutely essential to ALLY the opposition of the Euro peoples with American street power to be effective over the Right Wing Axis which has captured the American government.
